Hello fellow csscreators,

I got a reply the other day which started NO!
How is that in anyway helpful or smart? Yes, there was an explanation but is was so anally reprehensible as to be deleted of any use.
When a forum becomes a forum for anal retards intent on didactic vomitting I question their knowledge.
If you don't want to answer the question then shut up. We don't want to know why you are that way.

Sincerely.

I don't see it, could you post a link to it?

I must say, this post has lots of words I don't understand, but you've crafted your point well Laughing out loud Show us the page, we'll try and sort out the problem.

/edit found it

The "no" you're seeing could well be the response to your question:

There are stickies on this board for a reason. I must say, the sticky in "CSS Layouts" doesn't explicitly mention it, and neither does the one in "How To", but I guess it would make sense to post your html code, no?

I shoudl apologise; we are used to dealing with similar requests every day and we kinda expect people to post the HTML code as well as the CSS. But I'll go edit the stickies now, to mention posting all HTML code.

/double post

Please do not use the term "retard" as a derogatory insult. Retard means to hold back or stunt the growth of.

Gary's post was perfectly reasonable. How can you judge what code is necessary for us to fix your problem?

I assume it's this problem.

http://www.csscreator.com/css-forum/ftopic16207.html

Which you asked the question "Would it be the inline command? "

Which was correctly answered as no... and then asked for the HTML so as to better provide an answer, which i hardly think was anally reprehensible, just plain sensible.

It might seem obvious to you what the structure is, but bare in mind that we are giving out time for free to help people, and the amount of time wasted guessing what HTML people might have used, wether it's correct or not and the like can be very annoying. It's always sensible to add the CSS and the HTML for one without the other is totally meaningless.

I might have given the same answer, had Chris not beaten me to it.

cheers,

If your web page is as clever as you can make it, it's probably too clever for you to debug or maintain.

And unfortunately, threads like this don't do your cause any good either. While you may feel like you have a justified grievance, if the majority of forum regulars (the ones who you'd ordinarily be relying upon to answer your questions), are of a different opinion, they may also be more reticent in answering any of your subsequent posts for fear of sparking a negative reaction.

Sheesh, some people are touchy.

I call that succinct.

If you would like people to help you out on this forum you need to help them out. Sure I could have taken a stab in the dark of all the common issues that could have caused the effects you are seeing. There is no guarantee any of them would have applied and that would have just wasted your time and my time. Far better you post a complete description of your problem - image, html & css. Since you have the html to hand, the extra 30 seconds of your time will benefit everybody. It seems you'd much rather put that 30 seconds into a rant. That's your choice, but its not going to endear you to anyone here.

After that initial post, I didn't notice the thread as unread again. Though looking at it again, you don't show a whole lot of patience either. Posting your "doesn't anyone know" a whole two minutes after you posted the your list html.

Forums are communities of users. If you don't like the way the community behaves find another more suited to your style. Insulting or ranting isn't going to get you anywhere.

fwiw, IE incorrectly takes into account the padding on the inline element when calculating the height of the inline elements. That accounts for the grey background being the same height as the links. The excess grey below the links is due to IE incorrectly collapsing margins[1] when pushing up against an element with hasLayout.

[1]default "margin-top" is absorbed, default "margin-bottom" isn't absorbed. Any specified margin-top is not absorbed.

Chazza seems to have the writing end of communication down but lacks a bit on the reading/comprehension side.

No just happens to be one of the correct responses to a "Yes or No" question.

I wonder why he/she is asking for help from all us retards. He/she should definitely get a full refund. No questions asked.

Knowledgeable people have wasted their precious time dealing with the abusive grievance that you posted at the start of this thread, and you now say that you can't remember posting it, and that it's funny! I'm not laughing Evil. If you're going to say something then make it an apology. Failing that, please go and waste people's time elsewhere.

Life's a b*tch and then you die!
