Morning,

Anyone willing to check out my site and see where i've screwed up would be much appreciated. I know it works pretty well in 1024x780 but not so sure about the smaller sizes. Tips and suggestions welcome to.

Thanks
Shawn

I am viewing it in FF with 1024x780 and 800x600. Neither one is correct. In the larger size, your header extends to what I would guess 1200, therefore giving you a horizontal scrollbar. In 800x600 size, your menu breaks to a second line overlapping 'Tournament Sponsors' and your content pushes into the left column while pushing 'News/New Tournaments' below the content.

Here is what I've changed to. All comments welcome. Seems to work much better in 800x600 and 1024x780.

In the nav bar, make the background image taller; enough so that it fills the container when the menu goes to multiple lines—see at 800px width.

I see no reason semantically, structurally, nor æsthetically to use a table for the lower part of the center column.

The page is really improved over the early versions. Good job.

cheers,

gary

If your web page is as clever as you can make it, it's probably too clever for you to debug or maintain.

Thanks Gary,

I did see the background image issue. What would you suggest to get a side by side listing in the center column instead of a table?

I'm not all that sure two columns are desirable there. But if you just must, remember that each div is an independent context for its descendents. Simply make two column divs, one floated at 50% width, and the other static[1]. Act as if it were a regular two column layout within the center column. That's where css layouts excel. Each grouping provides its own context.

gary

[1] Or some other method. Smile

Having some issues with a page on the site.

I am trying to get the thumbnails to center in the window. It doesn't seem to want to take. Also the <ul> is way too far to the left and I can't seem to bump it right to make it inline with the rest of the text.

page: http://www.bowlingtourney.com/photobox.php

css code pertaining to this section:

.photobox_text {
}
.photobox_text h4{
text-align:center;
}
.photobox_text ul{
list-style: disc;
}
.thumbnail {
display: inline;
width: 90%;
margin: 0 auto;
padding: 5px;
border: 1px solid #000000;
}

This and any other comments anyone may have about the current look of the site are welcome as well. I do know the news bar is goofy in FF but I will get to that issue later.

Thanks!
Shawn

Maybe you could try changing the links on the left hand side to make them bolder and stand out more, they seem a bit dull and struggle to grab the eye.
