Hi All,
A new rewrite of the home page. http://future.iproductionguide.com/
This is only a test page. The current live version can be found here: http://www.iproductionguide.com/ if you want to compare.
I have tested this on Win XP-Pro with IE6, Opera 8, Netscape 8, and latest FireFox. But I need help with other browser op-system combo's.
I would appreciate it if you could give a real work over and let me know where I need help. Resizing etc...
Known Issues: For some reason, in Netscape the side google ads occasioanlly go bonkers. You will see what I mean. I can't get it to do that on my other browsers yet????????
Links in the directory are ok. Other links, on side, bottom ads will give invalid results. This is a test page.
Thank you,
JB
I think I'm ready to be checked.

Is it that no one has any thoughts or comments or you just don't like my site?
I think I'm ready to be checked.
I don;t know, sometimes people are just too lazy to respond
It's nice, but the main text seems a little small.
The layout is good, but I'm not sure about the blue IPG logo just "stuck" on the menu - looks a bit out of place.
Also, your main header needs the height removing - when the text is resized . . . you see what I mean

Speaking of resizing, I have noticed that you are using ems for some of your margins on your left menu. In this case the ems expand as your text size increases, thus breaking out your layout a little faster than need be. If you want your text to be contained in your left column, you might want to consider giving your left <ul> a width and replacing your ems with pxs.

I agree with tph, your blue logo (and the one in the middle of the header too imho) just look "stuck on" and I don't like the blue of the arrows for your menu (which also looks squished).
however, I do like the useage of the whitespace and the ads on the right aren't too distracting.
looking at your code I have to question the need for so many classes and divs for the sub menus...

Thanks for getting back.
I see what you mean about the resizing issues, text size and the left menu. Those should be easy fixes.
I am not crazy about the Blue logo nor am I married to the left menu.
My main concern I had was with the center part of the page - the directory. This took some significant work so that the columns would not slip under each other and to get the multiple lists to format correctly. If no one noticed I guess I did a fairly good job in that respect.
For the other issues, allow me to do some creative soul searching and get back to you folks.
Thanks for the input,
JB

Notice you have got a couple of validation problems. Nothing major, but will need rectifying
line 28 column 89 - Warning: <img> escaping malformed URI reference
line 105 column 1 - Warning: <img> escaping malformed URI reference
Could you take another look please
Hi Again,
I made a lot of changes and I would like if you could offer some more opinions.
The site is here: http://future.iproductionguide.com/
I changed the logo, the left menu, and changed the font resize issues and now the directory is working all the way down to the listing level if you click down that far. Only the home page is working which is the directory.
A couple of known things. The third level, where it lists with the Ordered List does not validate strict because I am using the ol start. more about that here: http://www.csscreator.com/css-forum/ftopic15810.html&highlight=
The unusual thing is when I altered from xhmtl strict to xhtml transitional, which allows the "start" attribute it made the left menu move up a few pixels. Odd because it is absolutely positioned. Any clues about that? Right now it is in strict mode but if you want to see it let me know and I will post a transitional version for you to see.
Once again, thank for your help. This project is turning out to be quite the learning curve! Hahaha!

Nice layout. I did not see if the first time so I can't compare. The only thing that bothers me alittle is the left menu. I think it would be more effective if the menu starts below the film graphic instead of on it. It took me a second to notice 'home'

Just a quick note when you resize to 800x600 the top ad covers up the top left logo. I hope that helps.
