Im a long time web designer and graphic artist finally crawling out from under the rock of table web design.

As a first project I decided to recreate my very simple (& temporary) DJ mix website using no tables. I made a CSS version with a simple 1 column layout. The challenge was then to redesign the site into a 2 column layout without touching the HTML file.

So this is the redesigned version with 2 columns. The graphics I just whipped up quickly, this was more an excersize in learning CSS rather then making the best graphics.

***WARNING, none of the links work, I know that. I have not built the full site yet and hooked up all the links to mp3s and stuff yet. I am aware of that, I just want to make sure my CSS is final first.

The links hover and all, just the HREFs arent hooked up yet.

Ive tested the site on Mac IE 5.2/Safari/Mac Firefox, PC Firefox and PC IE6. I know IE5 for PC which I dont have is the most problamatic so I want to make sure its not totally wacked on that but have no way to do it myself.

thanks!

Site check, PC IE5 especially!

Are you the Kemikal Kidd who used to post on BangingTunes.com?
Firstly, looking pretty good design-wise although you do have a lot of validation errors that need fixing up. In IE5.01 it looks just about right too except for there being no space below your content at the bottom and your nav links not really looking like tabs.
I won't bother providing a screenshot cos if you go to Evolt, you'll be able to download IE5+ standalones yourself and then if you read this article, you'll be able to set them up properly on your PC.

How to get help
Post a link. If you can't post a link, jsFiddle it.

Thanks, thats exactly what I needed to know (how to run IE5!).

Yeah, Im the same person. Funny running into someone from the past.

As far as validation errors are you speaking in the HTML or the CSS?

I know a color value of "orange" is not valid but it seems to work and I like the color for now.

HTML - I ran your page through the validator and it came back with 96 errors. First thing I noticed is you've got lots of uppercase in your tags which you can't have with an XHTML doctype.
By the way, I see you've gone a bit more proggy these days. I've been heading that way myself. Be keen to check out your mixes when you get the site done. Smile
