Dear all,

to achieve a visual "flock carpet" effect, i used a rounded corners technique for all my container-divs (as you can see here http://pornocops.stilverstaerker.com)

<!-- xhtml for the box -->

      <div id="nav">
        <div class="bi">
          <div class="bt"><div></div></div>
          <div class="content">
            <ul>
              <li><a href="#" id="nav_startseite">Startseite</a></li>
              <li><a href="#" id="nav_motive">Motivuebersicht</a></li>
              <li><a href="#" id="nav_downloads">Downloads</a></li>
              <li><a href="#" id="nav_presse">Presse</a></li>
            </ul>
          </div>
          <div class="bb"><div></div></div>
        </div>
      </div>

/* css for the box */

.bi {
  padding:0 0 0 25px;
  background: url(img/72211_borders.gif) 0 0 repeat-y;
}

.bt {
  height:25px;
  margin:0 -25px;
  background: url(img/72211_box.gif) 100% 0 no-repeat;
}

.bt div {
  width:25px;
  height:25px;
  background: url(img/72211_box.gif) 0 0 no-repeat;
}

.bb {
  height:25px;
  margin:0 -25px;
  background: url(img/72211_box.gif) 100% 100% no-repeat;
}

.bb div {
  width:25px;
  height:25px;
  background: url(img/72211_box.gif) 0 100% no-repeat;
}

And now...

...I just ran into a problem: when I put a vertical navigation in one of theses container divs (here #nav), and give one of the menu-elements the necessary display: block, the layout breaks in MSIE (6) and the right border of the #nav container-div is pushed 20 or more pixels to the right:

Does anyone has any idea what to do?
Thanks a lot for every little tip Smile

greetings,
Karsten

@both of you: Thanks a lot! This little bastard made me go crazy Smile Probably one of you could explain what problem the MSIE had with the width-definition? Is there some basic principle I violated?

@Trimph: Smile yeah, I didn´t (and do still not) know how you call a carpet like this in English... in Germany we call it "Flokati". The nice and cuddly kind of carpet you could eventually have a good time with your girl - if it wouldn´t be the home for every damn crump ever fell on the floor in your flat Smile

I think all of the violations are on the IE side, not yours. Wink

We call it "Shag" carpet in the US. That means something else in the UK and fits your description quite well. Laughing out loud
