I have a results page for a property website which works fine in PC IE5.5 and Safari on the Mac, but when it comes to IE6 on XP I'm getting the borders and text disapearing randomly. If you highlight the text it reapears?? also if you scale the window small everything works?!?

This is one of the strangest I have come accross in a while and it's driving me mad!!, could someone please help. Thanks in advance.

http://home2france.co.uk/results.php

The style sheet is here http://home2france.co.uk/styles.css and the styles used for the panels are under "Property Panels"

Thanks

Wierd PC IE6 vanishing borders and text bug

Hmm I;ve had a similar problem, I spent ages trying to figure it out, in the end I found this site http://qsdqsd.free.fr/Articles/MSIE6_CSS_bug_float_right/index2.html

That gave me a solution to my problem. It's not big on explination as to the cause but I found it to be just enough.

Essentialy if you add "position: relative" to the .propertydescription bit the text reappears.

However whilst I was re searching for this link just now I saw several results that suggested this might cause some problems with Mac IE but I don't have this to test so not sure. If someone does let us know!

Wierd PC IE6 vanishing borders and text bug

Thanks for that briski, your a star!!, been tairing my hair out with that one, my text is showing up but the borders are still a little glitchy. I have got around the the IE Mac thing by using the following hack:

/* to fix IE6 float bug but hide from MacIE \*/
position: relative;
/* end hack */

I also had to apply it to its containing div. Still can't work out the borders thing though?

Thanks again, much appriciated

I know that hair pulling feeling, hence i'm wearing a hat Wink

Had I bothered to spend some time actually looking at your file properly the first time I might have suggested to apply the
"Position: relative" fix to the .propertypanel section rather than the .propertydescription one. I have had a bit of a play and this seems to return the borders to their glorious borderiness on load.

I think as a rule with this fix it best to put it as high up the container stack as possible but I've not done a lot of combinations, once I get it working I tend to give up looking further....

Now my sodding details button has gone walkabout and the wierd thing is - it is somehow shifting in relation to the width of the image which is floated??? Aaaarggg!

It must be to do with the thing that shifts it left as it moves down the page
