I posted a similar topic in the beginners section before I realized this one existed, so please forgive what may seem like a double post.
In any case, I believe I've fixed the box model problem with IE5 Windows, but I would appreciate it if someone with access to this browser would double-check for me. The header and the right column, in particular, may be affected.
Any other comments will be received with much gratitude. If all goes well, this redesign will go live very soon.

It's an awesome site. Very solid in its build. Good job. I have no beefs. Looks a little better with JavaScript turned off (get's the Google ads out of there.
Regarding IE5... sorry, I no longer test that browser, lost access to a copy.

I tried to make the Google ads more palatable by making the borders white so that they are no longer visible. Apparently this trick also makes it more likely that people will click on them, because they look more like regular links and less like ads. I'm a little skeptical of this theory, but it's worth a try if only for aesthetic reasons.
In any case, thanks for the comments.
Anyone with IE5? Our stats show them still in the thousands, so I'd like them to have at least a half-decent experience.

Hi
Looks nice, but, if you are looking for itsy bitsy suggestions...
The color scheme needs to be better matched. I would suggest the blue in the logo matches the day and current page text. BUT, I think the logo colors themselves could do with matching to make them look co-ordinated.
This color wheel tool might help pick suited colors (or maybe not):

Actually, I used the system colour picker to match the blues. But you're right -- to the naked eye, they don't match. I'll experiment and report back.
Thanks for the input.

At first, I thought it was boring but when I got to finally reading the content, I guess the plain layout works great. However, there are some instances where I, as a reader, tend to lose focus-- probably because there's so much white space. Maybe it would help if you separated the "content" with the navigation with a light border and reducing the line height of the paragraphs? Just a thought. Cheers!

I'm a relative newbie at html/css, but, fwiw, I like it a lot.
But its a newspaper, right? The first thing I looked for was the date. No date. The obits have dates. I wondered, is this piece yesterdays news? Last week? Last year?
But I like clean look and easy nav.
Sorry, cant help you with IE5. My cousin in Florida has a copy - I think he keeps it in a shoebox under the bed.

Nice. Have to agree with ABC though. Line height is a bit much. Try a value of 1.3. You need a bit more than normal, but only a bit.
cheers,
