Hi everyone,

before I post the links, briefly this: I know the CSS code is abominable and I'm far from standards compliance. Please have patience with someone who just put his very first tableless layout together.

Before I work everything over, I'm just interested in two things:

a) Do the following sites display well in newer browsers (Mac, Linux?)? (I know, especially with the CSS soup I produced, older browsers like Netscape 4.x and Exploder 5.something will spit these sites up like broiled pork chops).

b) Should I redo site 2 in the style of site 1?

Site 1: http://www.deus62.com
Site 1 is, at the moment, only a page which serves as a sort of entrance to site 2, should you "accidentally" end up on site 1) Wink

Site 2: http://www.livingwithmusic.com
That's the main site.

Thanks for your patience with a newb.

Cheers!

I ditto TPH. Nice work.
If I had to find something wrong it would be the nav is slightly hard to read. Perhaps larger text or mayble bold.
Again, very nice design.

Thanks THP and wolfcry.

@wolfcry With navigation you mean text links and the link list in the right bar? If yes, I'm not happy with the right bar either - it breaks too easily if someone increases the font in his her browser. I think I might go with a different solution there in the future.

Or do you mean the rollover graphics on the left?

Note: I'm not at all happy with the CSS (I didn't separate anything but just mimicked what I used to do with tables), but I needed to see what all these tags do. Now that I know, I will try to go the h1, h2, p etc. route.

This time around I also tried to concentrate more on content first. I used to roll out many pretty decent table sites, but they were always lacking decent content ... and then the sites died.

Here I will improve along the way, as much as I can ... and then redesign from scratch (perhaps for the next reboot)?

Question: The question still remains. Should I transfer the deus styling to the livingwithmusic site?

Thanks for your input so far.

sorry, I meant the site choices on the top left. I would not transer the dues styling to the livingwithmusic site. I think it's gorgeous as is.

Thanks, wolfcry, although you make me sound like a duesbag. Laughing out loud

I'll basically keep it the way it is then.

I'll have a look at those rollover images again.
Which resolution are you looking at them with?

I'm on 1600*1200 and think they're ok, but I guess older people than me (that would be somewhere over 50 and above) might have problems (also, because the site doesn't gracefully degrade or adhere to any standards for visually impaired people, etc., yet.

Anyone else?

I'm still interested in hearing how this site/these sites display in newer browsers across various platforms.

I did run a browsercam check, but in 6 tries, I got a whole bunch of weird timeouts on esp. Win 2000 screenshots (blank screen with a small open DOS box?). Did I blow that, or did it blow all on its own selfdom?

Thanks for checking!

Shock Very impressive! Having the main menu on the left and current page menu on the right is very unique. I checked on my Mac in FF and Safari...looks good (hope you don't mind, but I didn't bother with IE/Mac).

The site flows smoothly, I don't think I have any complaints. Laughing out loud

The only criticisms I'd make is that you can't resize the text in IE and that you've used <br />s to separate your paragraphs.
Other than, all looks good. Smile

Thanks for looking, ragamuffin. And no, I don't mind about you not wanting to destabilize your system by doing an IE check.

Both issues will be worked on in the future. When cleaning up the code, I will try to go with em styling throughout. At the moment I still have a few problems with that because of the CSS soup I produced.

The breaks in the paragraphs I'll also work on. I had to change the settings in my CMS for the body-field because they broke the above mentioned soup. As usual, everything is interrelated. I'll try my best to fix it.

Thanks for your input!

Lovely design - really lovely!

The only things I can add would be that I'd put a title into the links to warn if you're going to be leaving the site or opening a new window.

My strategy is so simple an idiot could have devised it!

hehe, I really reviews like this one. I didn't check it with anything but FF, but I really like it. Especially the one with the rust-colored banner. http://www.deus62.com/

I didn't care for the forums page. I'd go for the look of the landing page across the whole domain.

Very nice.
