Hi all,

I'm sure this has probably been asked before, but after searching I can't seem to find anything. Smile

Is it possible to check an entire site in one go, to see if it's W3C Compliant (W3C Validation) instead of a page at a time?

Thanks. Laughing out loud

W3C Validation of a whole site?

Good question, but I don't think it is possible, but I stand to be corrected.

W3C Validation of a whole site?

No sysadmin in his right mind would ever allow such a drain on resources - can you imagine the report from a 100-page site designed by the average person who has just discovered standards Shock

...but I too stand to be corrected.

W3C Validation of a whole site?

You could try http://www.htmlhelp.com/tools/validator/. But check out "how this validator differs from others" just in case the very slight differences between this one and the W3C one are likely to affect your site(Drunk.

Helpfully, you can set it to report on invalid pages only. I've just run a 300 page (simply designed) site through it - time taken on 56kdial-up = 90 seconds. Just one invalid page, 'salright I knew about it Wink but it could have taken longer if there were a large number of invalid pages.

If you are new to this lark, it's probably a good idea to validate each page before moving to the next, particularly if you are going to re-use (x)HTML code across a number of pages.

W3C Validation of a whole site?

I like this timesaving site: http://uitest.com/en/check/

My strategy is so simple an idiot could have devised it!

W3C Validation of a whole site?

Looks like there is a market for a web spider capable of sending the pages it finds to the w3c validator and recording the results Wink
