Hi all,

I have just recently made a new site and I thought that as I'm a member of this forum I'd advertise it and get your feedback... Tongue

Color :: Mixer

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks.

I like it and have been thinking of using something similar for the next version of the CSS Generator once I get some time to work on it.

Things to look into:
In Netscape the sample color isn't displayed.
Have you thought about sliders to change the color.

Good job.

My latest site

I've just gone through all the code again and found that I tried to close a tag I never opened :? , this tag was in the innerHTML part of the sample color div, so I'm assuming that it was this causing the problem.

I've just began to download the latest version of NS (7.02), I've never used it before but seeing though im making a website I suppose its something I should have. (31.35 MB is slightly off-putting on 56k dail-up Shock ).

Also, I thought of using sliders in the java version, if I ever get my head round how to code it, but I dont know how they could be used on the web. I have never seen a slider in HTML before or anything like it for that matter. (Maybe I have seen them, just never realised it :? ) If you could give me some more information, or lead me in the direction of any tutorial sites I'd be grateful.

Thanks for your feedback.

Hi Lizo,
Yeah sliders are possible in java applets.
Also possible in JavaScript but not easy to write from scratch.
Here's an example you may be able to use
http://www.rci.rutgers.edu/~hofman/jsexp/explslider.html

That's a big download no wonder you were not keen. Smile
for a lighter option you could try Mozillla Firebird under 7 MB to download based on the same engine as Netscape just not all the features.

My latest site

Hi all,

I thought I'd bring this post back as I've just updated my site to use CSS positioning. Ive yet to do this with the actual color mixer but that will come soon.

Im using IE6, I was hoping someone could test in other browsers if possible. Its only a simple site so I cant imagine there being to many problems, but you never know... Tongue

Thanks.

There seems to be a slight issue in Opera 7 - all four of the colour boxes (red, green, blue, and the mixed colour) are rendered green, regardless of the settings!

:?

Yeh, as far as I'm aware it only works in IE which is a bit lame.

Daniel, when u say it looks fine in NS, does the color mixer actually work and everything?

I need to find out what is causing the problems. Can you see any text in the boxes, or are they completely blank? And if you can see the text, when you press the buttons does it change?

I need to build up a collection of browsers. If you could post some links to the different browser sites that'd be nice. Maybe one of the moderators could put an announement on the "browser compatibility" forum with all the links to the different browsers, this way everyone can get to see them.

Thanks.

Don't try to install another version of IE though, you can only have one at a time :?

Okay... for some reason I thought you wanted the rest of the site checked, and not the mixer.

The mixer doesn't seem to be working properly. Clicking on the boxes will change the values for the colours, but not the background colours. The text colours will change from white to black when needed in the 'Sample' area, though.

Sorry for the mix-up!

Shock

WOW, thanks TGecho, I had no idea that there were that many browsers.

Dont worry Daniel, my post wasnt very clear. I have, since then, updated the color mixer page to use CSS.

I have a small idea what might be causing the problem, hopefully it wont be too hard to change.

Thanks.

Right, I've modified the code with help from Larersia, so now I think it should work across browsers.

Let me know if you still encounter any problems.
