http://62.166.30.225/ac/

It's on my own webserver for a while. It will stay online for quite some time as well.
Done some work prior to this in css, everytime i try to challenge myself a bit more. This is my latest and quite proud of it...

What i'd like some help on however is that in firefox, and internet explorer the site does display a little differently, which is what i'd like to clear up. They are at most minor differences, and the site works fine.

Any advice would be appreciated.

P.S. None of the links on that site work yet, so please keep that in mind.

Thanks Again
Mike.

Edit: The difference appears in the middle of the site in firefox, the floats are all perfectly aligned (Shoutbox, CenterContent, History)

and in IE, the centercontent and history are no longer aligned, they are placed much higher. I'm wondering if there is a workaround for that?

Edit 2: Nevermind the previously mentioned bug. I managed to fix it by putting in an extra div. (A sort of hidden bar, that splits things up... and well it's fixed O.o) I've put this fixed version on my webserver now... still would like advice, if you can think of any... but i'm sure you can Tongue

Opinions on a New project.

I took a quick look. Distinctive design.

A couple of things struck me:
- I am not a fan of the change to italics as it alters the length of the text, which I find irritating.
- I think you could use something to provide a little more contrast between your title text's fill colour and the background.

On your menu list. The structure you have chosen doesn't really represent the data. You shouldn't need to have blank list items to make it work. Any of these could be argued to represent the list better.

<h2>Navigation</h2> <!-- its important to use the text even if you are replacing it with an image -->
<ul>
<li>Roleplay
  <ul>
   <li><a>Bio...</a></li>
   <li><a>Loc...</a></li>
  </ul>
</li>
<li>Tutorials
  <ul>
    <li><a>xHTML</a></li>
    ...
   </ul>
</li>
</ul>

<h2>Navigation</h2>
<h3>Roleplay</h3>
<ul>
  <li><a>Bio...</a></li>
  <li><a>Loc...</a></li>
</ul>
<h3>Tutorials</h3>
<ul>
  <li><a>...</a></li>
  ...
</ul>

<h2>Navigation</h2>
<dl>
  <dt>Roleplay</dt>
  <dd><a>Bio...</a></dd>
  <dd><a>Loc...</a></dd>
  <dt>Tutorials</dt>

With appropriate styling they can match what you have now. For details on accessible image replacement check out http://css-discuss.incutio.com/?page=ImageReplacement

A bit of padding around the text would be peachy.

Alright, thanks. I figured i was doing something wrong with the image replacement technique...

Also, i was thinking of adding green moss to the stone textures, that might add in an extra color to get away from all the grey/silver. That's for tomorrow, i'm glad the site works at least o.o; for the 3rd css site this aint so bad i think...

I find the background behind your text a bit distracting. I'd fade it back a bit.

I like the texture of your page (even though a lot of other designers out there may say that "marbles" are already overused and out of fashion) but perhaps a bounding box or some sort of limiter can be useful in order to hold your elements together (design-wise). Right now, it looks like a pasteboard-- although you do have nice-looking elements on it. But again, create something that will hold the design together.

I also agree with one of the previous opinions regarding the normal-to-italic mouseover on your links. It doesn't look right.

http://aegis.problem4u.com/

Is currently version 3 of the site... I have done much with the information you have given me.

The first being the contrast, adding in bits of green moss on the stone textures. Does seem to give a nice effect to it, several other have agreed with that.

I padded the text

I made the middle box larger, and made all the spacing between the individual blocks equal.

the italic changes on the links are gone now, and instead when you move over them they move slightly. I'm still wondering on how that would work on longer link names, cause it would push the content down... but so far the "My Ugly Mutt" link does not suffer from that... so i think that'll be ok...

Thanks for the advice till this point...

but a new problem arrived... in that @$*! internet explorer that is screwing up the margins -_-

EDIT: Fixed

www.aegischronicles.com

It's working in all browsers i know... but a friend of mine uses firefox 1.07 and i'm working with 1.52 beta.

His does not seem to show it correctly, the footer block gets pushed up and does not show a spacing between the shoutbox and footer.

While 1.52b and other browsers i've had it tested in do show that small spacing.

that's what it should look like. Can someone clarify and help me on this? Still need to figure out that image replacement jizz too =/

Edit: nevermind on the bug, do have a hard time with that image replacement jizz. Buncha different methods it seems, i'm just as to which one to use =/
