Erm... I was just wondering what the hell was going on. Where do Friendsters members come from? Is there not one that can write a decent sentence in plain English with things like capital letters and punctuation?
I'm intrigued by this bizarre phenomenon.
(This is the right place to post inane comments, isn't it? I realise this is neither Geek News nor very humorous).
Friendsters members - are they all illiterate?
For many their location implies English isn't their first language - a lot seem to list the Philipines or Manila. Their method of expression implies youth or younger. However look at the total number of views of some of the topics. Obviously only a very small percentage are posting, perhaps some don't have the courage, however maybe most are quitely reading and going away and doing.
Like all forum posters, respond politely and helpfully or let someone else respond.

However English is actually listed as one of two official first languages alongside Filipino.

Thanks for the replies. That makes a lot of sense.
Of course, I wouldn't respond impolitely - I just wondered what the score was.
I admire the patience of you guys, and yeah - I'm sure a lot of people appreciate your help although they don't post to say so.
Friendsters members - are they all illiterate?
Another question: Why do they come here? Not that they shouldn't; it just seems like there's so many of them. Is this site referenced by something in Friendster or something? Or is it word of mouth in that circle of people? To tell the truth, I had only heard of Friendster once or twice before I found this forum, but here, Friendster users seem prolific.

Friendsters members - are they all illiterate?
This site is referenced on Friendster apparently - they seem to have pointed to this site as being a great place to get answers to CSS questions (which of course it is) - unfortunately, I think Friendsters members think this is like a Friendsters help desk and they can come here and get people do to stuff for them.
Friendsters members - are they all illiterate?
Friendster is one of those 'every day guy' sort of sites that works with the masses, ie, pop thing to do. So you get 'all kinds' going there. Mix it in with the serious hobbyists and professionals here and it gets kind of weird.

Their method of expression implies youth or younger.
Yeah, I think it's more to do with forum-speak than their grasp on English actually.
