hi. this site is giving me many problems and i'm at my wit's end. i'm not that well versed in css but i've tried looking at forums and tutorials and still can't figure out what i'm doing wrong. i know it should be validated but i just don't know what is going on. it looks great in safari, firefox and opera but it looks terrible in i.e. mac and i haven't had a chance to view it in i.e. windows. but any help or suggestions would be most appreciated! thanks everyone.

site check please

hello and welcome to the forum!

may I start by saying that on first viewing I do like many aspects of your site. the pictures you use for your nav are beautiful. and I quite like your colour combinations.

a lot of errors come about because the code we've written is incorrect or incomplete. sorting out these errors can often sort out probs. although your css passes (which is good), you have 16 errors with your xhtml. you said you didn't know what was going on...are you having difficulty fixing the errors?

you'll be happy to know that things look great in IE6.

with regards to IE/Mac...at the end of the day this is a browser that is past it's day and no longer supported. however, the reality is that some people still have to use it. most people believe that as long as their site degrades well in IE/Mac and doesn't break then that is acceptable. I haven't got the mac on so I don't know how it looks...what exactly is the problem?

I don't really understand the construction of your navigation and I think this is where most of your errors are occurring. you have far too many divs and classes and stuff going on. check out http://css.maxdesign.com.au/listamatic/index.htm for some well formed navigation bars.

hth!

Looks pretty much the same in IE6/Win except there appears to be more padding around 'From the Director'.
If you don't mind me commenting though, I think the header looks a bit muddled with the overlaid text as the shades between the two greys don't contrast enough. Add in the black text and it looks a bit distracting, like the eye doesn't really know where to start.
