Right, I've got Virgin Freespace and have a domain name from 1+1 pointing at it. Why when I refresh the screen anywhere in my site does the browser return to my index.htm page? Is it because my internal links are relative and not absolute?

Probable stupid domain name/links question

No, nothing to do with that.

Look in the address bar of your browser. When you first visit the site it'll say mydomain.com (or whatever). Go to a few different pages - it won't change what's in the address bar.

Then when the browser wants to refresh it gets the page given in the address bar...

The webspace and the domain have to be 'linked' properly to achieve what you're after... whereas your webspace isn't actually at your domain, it's at a place given by a virgin webspace URL.

You know you're a geek when you try to shoo a fly away from the monitor with your cursor.

Probable stupid domain name/links question

Thanks dJomp.
Is it actually possible to have 'normal' behaviour in the address bar when you are using a redirected domain name to your webspace? If so, how exactly do you do it...?
Apologies for the newbie questions n'all.
Anyway, if you're interested, this is the site in question: www.jamesdowsett.co.uk (I'm aware of most of the obvious errors!!!)
I don't think it's too bad considering I knew nothing about web design two weeks ago!

Probable stupid domain name/links question

Only if you make your domain name 'refresh' the screen into http://freespace.virgin.net/... with simple redirection having http://www.jamesdowsett.co.uk/cv.html wouldn't be possible, unfortunately.
