We have reached 10 years old, a fair age for any website. Actually the domain was registered in October 2002, the site started with the CSS Generator and I added the forum in March 2003. October 2002 So we are actually closer to 10.5 years old. I would like to thank all the people who have been involved, specially the moderators who keep this place running when I leave it in auto pilot mode.

Over that time we have seen many great people come and go. Life, jobs and interests change and so do the active members. Many get bored solving the same problems, or trying to solve questions without enough information. Some pop back in to see how things are going from time to time. Those that stick around and share knowledge giving advice freely have my deepest respect.

Web development has changed significantly over the last decade. We are now in a world of HTML5, CSS3, Mobile devices, responsive designs, grids and frameworks.
Sites are way more complex requiring multiple JavaScript Libraries and CSS processors like SASS and LESS to help make sense of the multitude of styles.

The average size of a website has grown from around 100KB to 1000KB, luckily bandwidth has improved significantly. Content management systems are probably one of the major causes of the increase in size and complexity. Most websites these days would use a CMS of some form to make administration easier.
2003
Browsers have also come a long way. Back in 2003 we were dealing with IE5 on Windows and Mac, Mozilla Phoenix and Safari. We went through the prolonged pain of IE6 and are now in an era where we can mostly expect people will keep their browsers up to date. The modern browsers render most styles in similar was thanks to clearer specifications and better communication between browser vendors.

It's been a bumpy ride at times, thanks for sharing this journey with me.
