Hello World!

I'm working on my portfolio website. I am going freelance!

I would like for you all to tell me what you think about my site & my coding logic.

Please poke as many holes in my design & coding as possible!

I'm looking to learn & make my site the best it can.

The pages I'd like you to review are:
tymcclendon.com/index.html
tymcclendon.com/about.html
tymcclendon.com/santa-monica-seo.html

I would like to know what you all think about how I've coded my elements. I've also optimized the content for SEO, and would like to know if I've done so effectively.

Also, please tell me if there are any bugs I'm unaware of.

Thanks all for your help,

Ty

Validator OK but...

When I entered your site I thought I had tumble into a gangsta money laundering front-office retail page! And your 10-page web custom templates for $999 dollars(!!!!) doesn't work at all...
Aside that, it seems like a 1990's website design... and, unfortunately, I hate the green color also.

Sorry... that's my opinion. Sad

one suggestion with helpful links

Hi Ty,

I like your enthusiasm. From what I can tell at a glance, your coding seems pretty sound, but I think you'll be even more successful if you spend some time rethinking your site's visual design. The green (and particularly the money) is a bit overwhelming, and I'm afraid that potential clients might not take you seriously. Have a look at this site to see some great samples that might prove inspiring. Style can be a lot like flavours ~ not everyone likes the same thing, but certain ones are more popular than others... and different styles go in and out of fashion. What you've got going is a little bit outdated (no offence intended!!!) and you probably just need to spend some time looking at some really cool current stuff. Another site to check out is this one ~ lots of great inspiration!

Keep going, don't give up. You're definitely on the right path. Your attitude is fantastic, and that's important... people can't change that as easily as they can change their design.

All the best,
Jenn

Hi, Thanks for the advice. I

Hi,

Thanks for the advice.

I agree with you both.

After viewing many of the websites in those links, I have a better understanding of what you two mean.

Many of these sites have better utilization of color and contrast. I also noticed higher quality graphic work, and more content heavy pages.

I'll keep your suggestions in mind!

Hopfully I get kicked in the head with a good idea. Smile

As I don't have much time to immediately dedicate to a redesign, any suggestions for enhancing my current design?

Thanks again,

Ty

Same opinions in regarding

Same opinions in regarding the background as, Lambinastorm. I would go for a more fresh, bright color. Same goes for the color surrounding the boxes.

I like the design for the "money back guarantee".

The menu could be placed high up and get its own place.

Your sight will also be more SEO friendly if you drop the "html" at the end of your page. You could contact your web hotel and ask them to remove this.
