I love the way this slider uses the Jquery Cycle plugin. Can anyone give me some advice on how to make the text fly in at certain timings like in the above example?

That is a question best served by reading the plugins guide docs and /or studying the code specifically where it passes whatever arguments necessary to the jquery script to control various aspects of behaviour.
