Hi All,
At one time I had the footers looking like this:

But at some point I lost the layout and it looks like this now:

I wonder if it also is the same reason why my horiz bars in the header do not show up now either?

Please ignore other (validation) errors you might notice that don't affect these issues. I am discussing the validation errors in the body in another post.

You cannot declare an ID
You cannot declare an ID twice!
However Rene you must provide more info than you have, don't expect us to be human validators, I'm not prepared to read through someones markup and validate as I go, picking up obvious errors such as above fair enough but it's not really an exercise I nor many others will do for you as there are such things as validators to do this and which you are aware of, also when asking a question such as this you MUST post both CSS and Markup as the two are related one without the other is meaningless, or provide a link to the page live.
As far as things go I can't provide any further answers as to what may be wrong, but always one must have a valid page before one attempts to troubleshoot perceived issues.
