Concerning this post: http://csscreator.com/node/19116
The weird smiley in the first post and the mistake in the second make it hard to understand. Also, it may be helpful to mention when people post all their code instead of a live link they should make it easy to work with. Perhaps some additional steps:
- don't post markup and css in two separate sections, put the styling in the head so its one copy and paste process
- if images are important to the question or layout then link them to a live host, every ISP offers free space for hosting images
- make it as simple as possible to be helped
- don't assume posting a link to the guidelines is sarcasm
Personally, I don't have the gumption to
- copy a long bit of html
- paste it
- save it
- go back to copy the css
- paste it
- save it
- run the html through my browser
- wonder why it isn't styled
- go back and fix the <link> to point to the css file I have
- run the html again
- and then get started to figure out the issue.
It shouldn't be that hard to help someone.

Fixed the weird smiley (I quite liked it,
was due to trying to bracket an 's' and Tony's fault cos he keeps changing things but forgetting backward compatibility!
Additions, yes likely they make sense, no energy to deal with right now and have work to do but will try and update ( think actually there were a series of more detailed and complete guidelines that I wrote so that post possibly slightly redundant?)
Thanks for helping.
Thanks for helping.
While we're on the subject....
This may have to wait till Hugo has some space or Tony gets back or another mod steps in....
It has occurred to me more than once that we keep talking about the 'posting guidelines' but there isn't actually a sticky called that. Maybe it adds to the confusion when newcomers take the direction literally?
Tony's sticky http://csscreator.com/node/3906 about "How and When to Ask for Help" might be better titled "POSTING GUIDELINES-how to get help"
Just a thought.

Thanks Hugo. Maybe we'll put the formatting on Tony's list of things to do when he gets back

I think all of that's covered in the Posting Guidelines but maybe we'll put a revamp/amalgamation on Tony's list too
I think some of the problem is that the guidelines have different names in different forums, or else are not all in each forum.
The "misplaced tags" appear to be another of those things caused by the forum upgrade since it looks like some auto-insertion? Mr Toneeeee!

fixed the misplaced code tags in that second post but will probably remove that comment and include it.
had a quick clean up and
had a quick clean up and reformatted some to correct those format input issues, re-titled all with 'Posting Guideline' prepended to make them stand out a little and attempted minor revisions but that takes a quite a lot of time and will need to be revisited at a later date.

'How To' is restricted so doesn't need them
but you knew that - Yes I'm slow on the uptake sometimes.

LOL! Actually it never occurred to me! But we live in eternal hope that someone will actually go there to look up 100% or sticky footers so it might as well be in there too
Thanks everyone for pointing
Thanks everyone for pointing out the issues and fixing them up.
Had a wonderful time in Japan, left Brisbane the day before the floods and got back when it was nearly all cleaned up.
Then spent the weekend at http://drupaldownunder.org
Feeling a little flat at the moment hoping coffee can get me going.
