You'll never get it right then. Always validate FIRST. As you code validate your HTML often. It's easy and free, and will save you endless difficulty. We give you this advice to help you and save you a ton of time. If you reject it why should we bother with you further?
My HTML is now validated.
Hey guys,
I validated my html.
Like I mentioned earlier I am getting extra spacing in IE. The spacing is showing up under the nav and above the "body_wrapper" div.
thanks for your help

It's because IE incorrectly
It's because IE incorrectly clears your floats.
Add overflow:hidden to #header and then your floats will be cleared. From there, you will have a better cross browser reference on what you need to alter to make this design work... such as moving the nav to the body content instead of the header to match up with your background.
still have extra padding on header
I moved my UL to the body div, but i am still seeing some extra padding on my header div.
any ideas?
thanks,
S
