I have been having trouble making a css menu, I had one that i couldnt fix. So i would like to start from the start.

The page is done in tables (I know, terrible, but im taking one step at a time into css). I have a cell in the table for the menu,

td, 800 px wide, 50 pixels high

I will have about 7 menu items in the table, ie: Home, Media Centre, Speeches,,,

I would like for each item to have a background image, that changes on rollover. Both the background image, and the rollover image will be the same for each item, and just repeated along the x axis.

I would like the whole menu to stretch accross the whole cell (800px), and have the padding between them stretch as required.

While browser compatibility is great, if it works for Firefox and Internet Explorer i am a happy child.

This is the same post as

Please don't post the same thing in multiple places, especcially as someone has been replying to your other post. It is not helpfull for people helping and also for people who might have a similar problem and are trying to follow the solution.
