For those of you who don't have time to be creative and want an avatar, there is now a gallery available. So far only Tux the famous Linux penguin and Sailor Moon. 
Avatars are those images beside some posts. You don't need them but they add a little colour to the forum. To access the galleries log in view your profile and down the bottom there is a button which allows you to view and select Avatars.

Avatars restrictions
You can upload your own Avatars.
Just remember that there are size restrictions, 80 * 80 pixels and under 5 KB which should be heaps.
Try to keep them as small as possible please.

Avatars for Fun and Profit
Anyone finding them bereft of inspiration for an avatar could of course just post a plea here, and see what the community can provide...

now if only i could find a nifty iconic graphic for use with the deprecated/unused SHORTCUT ICON header element
oh well... guess i'll have to do the graphic design myself

I couldn't upload an avatar image, the image is in gif format and less than 5KB. Is it because I am a newbie or something?

Nah, just the permissions aren't right on the directory it's trying to upload to.

Opps, that would be my fault something I overlooked with the move.
Unfortunately I am at work now and don't have access to the server.
Once I get home, in about 8 hours I will fix the permissions.
That is off course if my isp gets its act together, I couldn't connect from home this morning.
