FF and safari accept not only height but padding css styles for input select boxes (dropdowns), but is there any way to manipulate the height of a select box in IE 6 and 7 besides adjusting the font size?

Any help/advice would be greatly greatly appreciated.

Not really. The select element is one of the most resistant to styling that there is.
