I really don't know how else to express what appears to be happing. Been through several books, faqs and such, but resolution. Perhaps I'm not asking the question correctly. Help!!! drgeorgep

We really need more info than you have supplied, but you can try working with line-height = to the height of your heading element which will center the text vertically.
Vertical-align is only for table elements or inline elements.
Of course ....

Hi ... thanks for your quick response. Am think about css and such things. Here's the link http://www.grubstreet.ca/gs.css. I seemed to have lucked-in with the line-height, it's the darn space before the hearder-1 that has me stuck. My first attempt at css and just starting. Thanks.
Have you accounted for
Have you accounted for margins?
And link to the page rather than the CSS file which we can always find.
Header-1 Problems ...
Hi ... page is http://www.grubstreet.ca. I want to use header-1 for the Sis Boom Bah entry, 12 pt bold. When I use header-1, it places a blank line below the entry. Manage to get the rest of this very basic design right, but can't figure out how to get rid of the blank line. Thanks for all ideas. drgeorgep
I don't see any <h1> tags
I don't see any <h1> tags anywhere.
I also don't see a DOCTYPE.

Won't use it, if it's going screw up the whole page, which it does with the mystery blank line below it. I know it's a header and such, but I was able to alter all over elements: why not this one.
What's DOCTYPE?
Thanks.
Ooeeerk!!
What's DOCTYPE?

I'm new here too but believe me you do not want TPH, or any other mod for that matter, to see that last question!!
Quick! Time's running out!
The mystery blank line is
The mystery blank line is most probably the bottom margin, but because you removed it from the page, we can't check.
And how on Earth did you miss the ALL CAPS MESSAGE at the top of EVERY FORUM called DOCTYPES ARE IMPORTANT PLEASE USE THEM???
[quote Hugo]Have you
Have you accounted for margins?
But it clearly received no attention and consequently no answer, breath wasted  me does wonder sometimes!
We like to try and help but it is very much a two way street.
